Data protection officer under Austrian law

With regard to the appointment of a data protection officer (§ 5 DSG), the DSG generally does not exceed the provisions of the GDPR.

The DSB refers to the ‘Guidelines on Data Protection Officers’ – Article 29 of the Data Protection Group – to assist with the designation of a Data Protection Officer.

Notification of the Data Protection Officer to the authorities

The DSB must be notified of the appointment of a Data Protection Officer. However, a form for the notification is not yet available.
