Apart from rules on video surveillance of workspaces (see Art. 77 ZVOP-1), there are no specific provisions on employee data protection. Video surveillance of workspaces is allowed only in exceptional circumstances where necessary to protect the safety of people or property, or trade secrets, and where such purpose cannot be achieved by milder means. Prior to implementing video surveillance measures, the employer has to consult the relevant representative trade union and inform employees in writing.
The Slovenian Information Commissioner has issued guidelines on data protection in the employment context. The guidelines are available here (in Slovenian).
